So they thought that I would be a good addition to the band. So it felt freeing at some level to be a free agent, in 98, cause the industry was really changing, and the Internet was becoming a big thing, and I thought, Gee, the futures kinda wide open. Can you unpack that for me a little bit? As soon as I went backstage after the Berkeley concert, the crew and band told me that Aynsley and Terry were there hanging out. The album was released in 1968 in Canada, France, Sweden, the UK, and the US with a limited re-release the following year. So when you told them you couldnt do it anymoreat that point, were you thinking of it as a hiatus, or a breakup? There was several medical, non-surgical choices, and I tried all of those. I look over at the bar, and they're all sitting by the bar drinking! After you've been around a while, you understand that you can't play everything you've ever wanted to play. And so everybody packed their stuff, went home, and Im hearing that were gonna be off for maybe a couple months, three months, six months, whateverbut it turned out to be close to eight to ten years. Do you think there were things you would have dealt with differently if you were sober? And it took a few more months, until October, and then I was ready, and found the right doctor for me. I mean, I heard him the first time with David Bowie. We were all lovin it. I guess its because maybe Id found a life. I like having a click track to work with, but I don't just play along with it for hours. Yeah, the Oh Sherrie record. Aynsley Dunbar, had quit when he and I stopped getting wages about 9 months before the album was finished, though I was still a member (unpaid) - I re-recorded some bass parts in London when John Sykes was doing some guitars, just a month or two before he left.
